Trevor's Set Up

Picture
Trevor lives in Stoke Golding, a small village near to Nuneaton in Warwickshire.

He houses his birds in an L-Shaped extended garage with 48 breeding cages, one large flight and a large raised stock flight opposite.

The whole aviary is tiled on the floor and each cage utilises stainless steel trays for ease of cleaning.

Adrian's Set Up

Picture
Adrian is based in the small village of Oakley in Bedfordshire.
He has a wooden built 26' x 12' aviary with two large  double glazed opening windows to the front either side of a central door and a  smaller double glazed window on the side giving extra light and ventillation.

Inside the  aviary there is a large 5' deep flight at one end stretching the full width and  a  smaller stock flight to the right of the door which is raised off the floor which is used for young before the jump to the bigger flight.

The floor is tiled both  inside the large flight and in the main open area of the aviary. Each wall  is lined with Melamine panels with roofing insulation packed behind with the exception of the large flight which is tiled floor to ceiling. There are 3x 4' Fluorescent lights and 2 night lights set on a timer.
To control conditions in the aviary there is a heater on a thermostat, a de-humidifier to maintain humidity and an extractor fan to control dust.

There are 44 breeding cages in all with room for more if needed.

Each breeding cage has stainless steel removable trays to aid cleaning and a wooden platform to enable the young to hide away if the need arises.

Typically a box  within a box style wooden nest boxes are used which hang on the outside of the cage allowing  ease of access and does not take up room within the breeding cage itself.
